We’re lucky to have the best lingerie stores in New York and L.A., and while we a owe a nod to them, this post is really a shout out to the small boutiques and the badass entrepreneurs who dared to dream and provide not only top of the line lingerie but also create luxurious experiences that we can take home and take straight to bed (or the kitchen counter or the dining room table...). All of these lingerie stores ship, so pop a bottle, start perusing and let the mental foreplay begin.

Our first borderline unhealthy obsession is with Sugar Cookies in Chelsea, one of the best independent lingerie stores in the city. They've got an array of scintillating lingerie from European and New York-based designers, plus the kind of accessories that make you close the blinds and call in sick to work. Example: the brilliant Lelo Bridal Pleasure Gift set, containing a pearl-studded silk blindfold, a suede teaser and a NOA couples massager, which is a smooth, insertable tail worn by a woman and “affording ample space for both partners.” (And no, you don't have to be getting married to nab this for yourself.) You can also book private appointments held their sitting room, which they also use for trunk shows featuring top designer’s seasonal collections. Not in the city? Private appointments via FaceTime are available based on your time zone. If you're into the group thing, they'll host two-hour private parties for you and select guests, which includes champagne, sweets and other perks (read: aphrodisiacs). There’s a reason they were awarded the “Best Personal Touch” award from Intima Magazine.
Located in the East Village, you’ll find Azaleas, celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. We love this lingerie store because owner Cindy Kahng showcases up-and-coming designers and yummy, hard-to-find labels carefully selected by her and her staff. She also carries seriously sexy pieces, like an all-in-one harness and garter by sex-positive lingerie designer Marika Vera of Mexico City, (stockings included, natch) and a selection of small toys, adjustable bracelets and chokers, as well as wellness items in their apothecary. If you love one-on-one time, book a 30-minute, private appointment with a stylist who'll send you a questionnaire in advance and prep a rack of styles tailored to you to ensure that luxurious, personalized attention you deserve.
The iconic Beverly Hills Hosiery has been an L.A. institution since 1934 (but thanks to LA plastic surgeons, it doesn't look a day older than 40 ;). Under new ownership of longtime customers, it's since moved into edgier new digs in DTLA. but kept the legendary vintage sign so they’re easy to spot. They carry everything under the Cali sun, from traditional lingerie to harnesses, masks, gloves, pasties, and, of course, an array of not-your-mother’s tights and stockings in playfully sexy patterns and styles. From petite to plus size, they offer anything you could wish for and if you can’t find it, they’ll hunt it down for you and handle special orders. This must-visit store also offers shopping services onsite and remotely plus hosts special events like girl’s night out and boudoir photo shoots. This has to be one of the best lingerie stores in L.A. if not in the country. They're constant finger on the pulse of what's hot has kept them in biz for 90 years, proving you can be sexy at any age.
We couldn’t end this post without raising a (whiskey) glass to Lucy’s Boudoir in Long Beach, a beautifully sexy, Black-owned lingerie store that offers free fittings available via walk-ins or by appointment. (Psst... Covid restrictions may apply, check their site to see the latest.) Whether you’re looking for bras, swimwear, lingerie or shapewear, expert bra fitter Lucy and her trained staff will help you find the best-fitting and comfortable pieces for you. They offer lingerie in hard-to-find sizes and also consultations for maternity and nursing bras, as well as fittings for post-surgery clients who have undergone augmentation, reduction or mastectomy. This gem also offers alterations for your existing pieces... now who wouldn’t want that?
